Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Welcome to the Disc and Deck Help Center! Here youโ€™ll find answers to common questions about buying, selling, shipping, and managing your account on Disc and Deck.

Buying on Disc and Deck

How does buying work on Disc and Deck?

Disc and Deck is a peer-to-peer marketplace for physical media (4K UHDs, Blu-rays, DVDs, boutique releases) and gaming hardware (consoles, handhelds, video games, retro gear, and PC graphics cards). Browse or search for items, select "Buy Now" to pay instantly, or submit an offer if the seller has enabled offers.

Are there any buyer fees?

No. Buyers pay 0% platform fees on Disc and Deck. You only pay the item price, applicable sales tax, and any shipping costs specified by the seller at checkout.

What payment methods are accepted, and how am I protected?

All checkout payments are processed securely through PayPal. You can pay using your PayPal balance, linked bank account, or major credit/debit cards accepted by PayPal.

Your card or bank details go to PayPal, never to Disc and Deck or the seller. Eligible purchases are covered by PayPal Purchase Protection if an item doesn't arrive or isn't as described, and sellers who ship to the address shown at checkout with tracking may be eligible for PayPal Seller Protection. Coverage and eligibility are set by PayPal's terms. Keep every payment on Disc and Deck โ€” off-platform payments aren't covered.

When will my order ship?

Sellers are required to ship paid orders within three (3) business days and provide valid package tracking. You will receive an automated email notification with tracking information as soon as your order ships.

What if my item arrives damaged, incomplete, or not as described?

  1. First, send a direct message to the seller through your Order Details page to explain the issue. Most sellers are happy to help resolve issues directly.
  2. If you cannot reach a fair resolution with the seller, eligible orders are fully covered under PayPal Purchase Protection. You can open a dispute through PayPal to request a return or full refund.

When is an order considered "Completed"?

An order automatically marks as Completed seven (7) calendar days after the shipping carrier confirms delivery, or thirty (30) days after shipment if tracking shows no final delivery scan. Once an order is completed, you can leave the seller a rating.

Selling on Disc and Deck

Who can sell on Disc and Deck?

Anyone residing in the United States with a valid PayPal account in good standing can list items for sale.

How do seller fees work?

Disc and Deck charges a competitive base platform fee of 6% on the item sale price when an order is paid. As you build your track record and sales volume, your fee automatically decreases through our Seller Tier Program:

Note: Standard PayPal merchant processing fees also apply to incoming sales payments.

Are seller fees refunded if an order is returned, cancelled, or disputed?

No. Platform service fees are fully earned upon successful transaction authorization and are non-refundable in the event of buyer-seller returns, cancellations, or disputes. If you refund a buyer, cancel a paid order, or a PayPal dispute is decided in the buyer's favor, your Disc and Deck seller fee for that sale is not returned. Sales tax is different: it's refunded to the buyer along with any refunded purchase price. See Terms ยง5.

When do I get paid for my sales?

Sale proceeds are paid by PayPal directly to your connected PayPal account. How fast depends on your seller level: VIP sellers are paid the moment the buyer pays; Power sellers when they ship; Pro sellers at the first carrier scan; Verified sellers on the carrier's delivery scan; and Rookies after the delivery scan, when the buyer marks the order complete or 48 hours after the scan. Rookie and Verified payouts always need that delivery scan, whatever the price. Until then, PayPal โ€” not Disc and Deck โ€” holds the money. See when you get paid.

How do I ship my items?

Disc and Deck supports USPS, UPS, and FedEx. When you create a listing, choose the shipping service you'll use: USPS Media Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, USPS Priority Mail, UPS Ground, or FedEx Ground / Home Delivery. Enter your packed weight and ship-from ZIP code, and we'll show estimated label prices to help you set your shipping charge. The final label price depends on the buyer's address.

After a sale, you can buy a discounted USPS, UPS, or FedEx label directly through Disc and Deck (powered by Shippo), or buy postage elsewhere and enter the tracking number manually. Ship within three (3) business days using the service shown on your listing, or a faster one.

Item Condition Guidelines

To maintain marketplace standards, all sellers must accurately categorize their items using the following condition scale:

Listing Verification (Proof of Possession)

Why do listings need a verification photo?

To show the seller actually has the item in hand. Stock photos and images copied from other sites aren't allowed on Disc and Deck โ€” buyers should see the exact copy they're buying.

How do I verify a listing?

  1. When you create a listing, you'll get a short verification code (for example DND-8K3P).
  2. Write the code on a piece of paper and place it next to the item in your primary cover photo (photo #1).
  3. Upload the photo. We read the code automatically and your listing goes live as soon as it matches. If the code can't be read clearly, the listing is sent to our team for a quick manual review.

What extra step is there for consoles, handhelds, and GPUs?

Hardware listings also verify the serial number. Type the serial number, then add two photos that each show your handwritten code:

We check both photos automatically. If the code or serial number can't be read clearly, retake the photos in good light, or submit them for a quick manual review. Serial photos are private: only you, our team, and your buyer (after they pay) can see them.

Does every seller need to do this?

Rookie, Verified, and Pro sellers verify each new listing. Power Sellers and VIPs, who have long records of successful sales, are exempt. Any listing can still be reported and reviewed.

Taxes & Marketplace Laws

Does Disc and Deck collect sales tax?

Yes. Under state Marketplace Facilitator laws, Disc and Deck automatically calculates, collects, and remits applicable state and local sales tax on taxable purchases made through the site.

Do sellers need to collect sales tax manually?

No. Disc and Deck handles all sales tax collection and state tax filings for marketplace transactions. Sales tax collected from buyers does not count toward seller earnings or platform fees.

Safety & Policies

Can I buy or sell digital download codes or games?

No. Disc and Deck is strictly a marketplace for physical media and gaming hardware. Standalone digital redeemable codes, digital game licenses, and account credentials are strictly prohibited.

How do you keep counterfeits and fake accounts off Disc and Deck?

Can I accept payments outside of Disc and Deck?

No. Moving transactions off-platform (such as cash, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or direct PayPal Friends & Family) is strictly prohibited. Off-platform deals bypass buyer/seller protections, void marketplace coverage, and will result in immediate and permanent account suspension.
